King Kahiga Muriuki, popularly known as Mushking in entertainment circles, is a multiple award-winning filmmaker that has directed, produced and shot for many local television productions, adverts and documentaries. Most recently as producer and director he has won the 2017 & 2019 Kalasha International Award for Best Animation Production with The XYZ Show for Buni Media, as well as Best African Documentary in the Kenya International Sports Film Festival with his documentary Against All Odds which has been nominated and screened in various film festivals around the world.

 

He was the cinematographer on Asha (dir. Meena Nanji) that screened at Raindance Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Festival, Vienna Independent Film Festival and CARAVANE DES CINEMAS D’AFRIQUE in Lyons, France.

He produces commercials and corporate content for industry leaders such as Shell, Google, GSMA, Safaricom, Coca-Cola, Bidco and shoots humanitarian documentaries for international NGOs AMREF,UN-MDG and Plan International. He has recently wrapped shooting an investigative journalism documentary with hard-hitting Redfish Media GMBH on Technology Capitalism in Africa.

 

He is an acclaimed music video director, his videos for East Africa’s biggest artists rotate in regional and international entertainment channels such as MTV, Channel O and Trace TV. His photography and artwork have been used In local dailies such as The Daily Nation and international publications such as The Huffington Post.
